The carnivorous black and yellow lizard lives in most parts of South America. It grows to a length of 3 feet and eats meat. They are known to raid henhouses and they are in turn valued as meat in some parts of the world. This tropical new world lizard has a long tail and large rectangular scales on the belly. It is valued for its hide which is used in boots, belts, and hat bands.
